Idea Lab Kids Day Camp: Earth & Space Bots Children

9:00 AM| The Library

 

Come aboard this mission as we build and program space robots like a Mars rover and satellite. We will then head back to Earth to learn about topics like energy and search and rescue while constructing two projects: a windmill and a machine to retrieve small objects in tight places.

Campers will have a blast building with LEGO programming tools while making friends, developing skills, and exploring STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) concepts.

This is a one-day camp offered for Monday, July 3, 2023.

Campers will learn to program the LEGO Mindstorm robotics kits to build an amazing machine that can solve a Rubik's cube in front of their eyes.

 
Colour sensors and other special components will be used in building and coding this robot.
 
This one-day camp is offered Monday, July 3, 2023.

Idea Lab Kids Camp: Toy Engineering Children

Campers will design, test, and build their very own toy store by using found objects such as batteries, magnets, and parts to design, build and fine-tune simple toys.

This camp will challenge budding engineers to be creative in repurposing existing objects into new toys that spin, move, light up, or do other cool things while teaching them about engineering principles.

Idea Lab Kids Camp: Sr. STEAM Sampler Children

Campers will dive into the disciplines of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) by engaging in activities that give them a more comprehensive understanding of each discipline.

 
For example, campers will see the idea of conductivity firsthand as they generate electricity from a simple coin battery, they will be at the forefront of the film industry as they make their own micro-budget films, and they will study force in a fun way by creating their own ping-pong ball launchers.

For example, campers will explore the world of microbots when they create a maze for a hexbug, glimpse structural engineering as they play a part in creating a simplified Rube Goldberg machine and get creative by making and evaluating art.
